A BOOK FOR ME
A BOOK FOR ME AT A GLANCE
Our Identity
A Book For Me knows that reading is the foundation block for all learning and that by creating a strong foundation, you can work towards building an empire. It was only until our daughter, Brooklyn, was exposed to books whose main characters looked like her, did her love of reading begin to flourish. These characters made the story relatable and ultimately more enjoyable for her. This discovery led Brooklyn to want to create a way for all children to have the opportunity to own books where the main characters look like them, in hopes of encouraging a passion for reading, just like the one Brooklyn has discovered.
WAYS WE HELP
SUMMER BOOK DRIVES
Giving books throughout the summer to children in urban city areas.
With this initiative, our goal is to allow children in under served urban areas  to be able to own their own books with characters that resemble them and their background when their families/guardians may not have the financial means to purchase these books or where access to a free public library is not readily available.
LIBRARY DONATIONS
Reinforcing our commitment to empower children in urban city schools to be able borrow books with diverse characters from their school libraries
With our organization’s mission always in mind, we strive to find new strategies for children to be able to read about people that look like them. With this initiative, we are determined to make public school libraries more diverse in their selection of books that children are able to borrow from.
EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMING
Bringing to school districts educational programs that support the fundamental goal of encouraging reading among youth.
At A Book For Me, we are dedicated to stepping up our efforts to expand every child's desire to read. Through cooperation with literary leaders and the communities which we serve, we are excited to bring educational programing to school districts that enforce the need for diversity in books and the concept that reading is an essential tool to develop learning potential.
"Today a reader, tomorrow a leader."
